We see that many of our users are so happy with Sellfy that are actively recommending it to their friends and people around them. From our side we wanted to give a little reward and also incentivize other users to spread the word about Sellfy.

So, we just relaunched our partner program and now offer fixed $10 for every seller you invite to Sellfy. Once your invited user reaches at least $50 in transaction volume we will send you ten bucks (together with huge thank you) to your provided PayPal account.

If you are Sellfy user then you already have your referral link, just head over to invite page and share the link on Twitter, Facebook or via email.

Sellfy buy-now button update: frictionless checkout experience

Today we are rolling out updated Sellfy “buy now” buttons and they allow your customers to finalize purchase without ever leaving your site. It will offer less friction, no redirects for customers and improved conversion rates for your products.

buy now button checkout

Everything is super-simple now, once customer clicks on “buy now” button on your website, we display available payment options without redirecting him anywhere. If you use Stripe or Paymill payment gateways, customer can even fill out the credit card payment form, purchase product and download product right from there. Only in case of PayPal customer will be redirected to PayPal website to finalize the purchase.

Now this is the default action for all buttons but you can also choose the old redirect option to Sellfy checkout page once you create your product (for existing products just go to My products > embed/share page).

As always we welcome for your feedback to continue to improve our service! Good luck with sales!

Sellfy update: Stripe & Paymill integration

sellfy_stripe_paymill

We are happy to announce that we have finished Stripe & Paymill payment gateway integration and now you can start to accept secure credit card payments via your product pages on Sellfy.

Stripe is the most simplest way to accept payments online and allows users to accept online credit card payments without the need for a merchant account or gateway. Stripe currently works with US/Canada merchants and to start accept payments you only need a valid bank account.

Paymill is the way to go for European merchants. They are active in 32 countries and offer the same simplicity as Stripe and the account activation process it the easiest among other alternatives in Europe.

You can enable one of these payment gateways by going to payment options menu in Sellfy settings page. Just like in case of PayPal, after each purchase you will receive money instantly into your Stripe/Paymill account – it’s fast, reliable and secure!

Attract affiliates to promote your products

We are very proud to announce that we have launched affiliate program for all our merchants on Sellfy! Now everyone can setup custom affiliate offers for their products and split earnings between people who help to promote  them.

Affiliates have been notable driving force for e-commerce sales and they play a huge role in increasing visibility and earnings for your products. The idea was to give you a very easy to use tool for attracting these influencers and turning your customers into product ambassadors.

How does it work?

First of all you will need your product on Sellfy, assuming you already have one you can setup an affiliate offer by going to “My products” > “Affiliate offers”. To setup an affiliate offer you will need to specify affiliate share and provide some additional details for your affiliates.

You can also specify where to redirect all traffic coming from affiliate links. Enter the URL of your product website and all traffic trough affiliate links will flow directly there. If you don’t have your own site yet, you can use Sellfy checkout page as well.

Turn customers into affiliates!

We have also integrated affiliate programs directly into the Sellfy checkout pages so that you can turn your customers into affiliates right from there. Previously you had an option to provide discount for promoting your products trough Facebook and Twitter. From now on you can give a commission from every deal your customers helped to make. Using performance based rewards you will be able to attract more powerful influencers and turn one-time campaigns into longterm relationships!

Sigh up for Sellfy here and start selling!

Sellfy mobile checkout

Around 15% of total traffic that goes trough Sellfy powered checkout pages are people using mobile devices. As this number is large enough (and growing) we have added mobile checkout support. This will be especially useful for smartphone users as they have the smallest screens.

This update goes out for all our merchants and no additional changes on client side are needed. However we encourage our merchants to make sure your site is optimized for mobile traffic as well. These 15% of people using mobile devices are coming form your sites!

Here are couple screenshots how checkout process looks on iPhone:

Sell Awesome: Make 100 sales in two days!

Yes, how to make successful product launch? One of our sellers here at Sellfy, Paul Jarvis, recently published his cooking ebook called “EatAwesome” and had a really great start. He sold 100 copies of his book just in two days since launch and it’s still going strong!

We went ahead and did a little interview with Paul where he shares some useful tips for anyone who is considering selling their own products trough Sellfy, here you go!

Tell us a little about your background, as I understand you are a web guy?

I am! I’ve been designing and developing websites through my company Twothirty for the last 13+ years. I’m also a touring musician, in the band Mojave. I’ve always been the type of person with interests that vary and swing quite wide – so I’m sure if you asked me the same question even next year, I’d have a totally new and different answer.

How did you get involved with food and publishing your own cooking ebook “EatAwesome”?

Food and cooking has always been a passionate hobby for me. The geeky/science-y part of my brain always needs to learn how everything works, so in terms of cooking, that means figuring out each ingredient and getting down the source (i.e. whole foods as ingredients). I love figuring out new “food hacks” by creating vegan versions of traditional non-vegan dishes.

As far as publishing goes – I’ve also always been a “do it yourself”er. I started my own web company, I have a record label with my wife for our band, and for the book I wrote, I knew i wanted to do it myself. Tools exist right now that allow independent creative people to publish and promote their creative endeavours fairly easily. It’s just a matter of figuring out how that works and then using it your advantage.

Tell us a little bit about the process of creating the book itself. How long did it take to make it?

The actual writing of the book was oddly enough the easiest part. My book is divided into two main sections: information and recipes. The information part and ideas for each recipe only took a week or so to write, since it just flowed out and it’s all things I’ve talked about dozens of times to people. The harder (or actually more time consuming) part is everything that goes along with a book – like editing, recipe testing, photography, marketing + promotions, even formatting and creating all the different e-reader file formats.

So all in, it took three months. Which to me seemed like ages, but I think that’s probably pretty quick to turn around a cookbook.

You had a pretty successful launch. Any tips for other independent publishers?

Thanks! My biggest tip would be to figure out the line between annoying people and promoting to them on social media (which I’m not even saying I do perfectly, haha). You definitely need to let folks know you have something they can buy, but you don’t want to constantly ask them to buy it. There needs to a nice balance between talking at your social media followers and interacting with them.

Another big thing would be to start building a buzz BEFORE you launch your product. Set a launch date. Offer freebie advance copies to publications and fellow publishers of creative content. Have a contest! Collect emails on a mailing list with incentive to sign up. There are so many ways to get people interested and then excited about your launch, so when launch day comes, they are already eager to give you money!

So what’s for you next? Do you have ideas for your second book/project?

I’m actually not sure! I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want to write a sequel – I just need to come with a better name than “Eat Awesomer”. I am actually going to wait and see how things go with this launch first, as well as really talk to the people that bought it and see what they would want in a sequel, if they even are interested in one. I’m a big proponent of talking to customers, since if you don’t, you can only guess what they might want.

My immediate next thing is actually to go on a three month road trip with my wife.

Remember to check out his book “EatAwesome” here!

We will keep publishing more posts on how to be successful in ecommerce and online marketing. Stay tuned and subscribe to our blog via Twitter, Facebook or RSS feed!

Upload products up to 2GB!

We are happy to announce that maximim  file size for products is now lifted to 2GB. This upgrade is now live and available for all our users.

Previously we had 200MB limit for product file size but for many merchants, especially if we speak about video content, that wasn’t enough. So we started to test different technologies that could give us the opportunity to handle large file uploads and we are now ready to give it to you as well! Please remember that it is still in testing mode so please report us any bugs you find!

Good luck with your sales!

Update: 3 important features

Hello everyone! I think we didn’t properly introduce our blog – so here it is, new and shiny Sellfy blog! A place where we will share some news about Sellfy as well as different tips in marketing, sales and other topics important for you, our merchants.

This post is dedicated to some exciting new features we released just recently:

  • Improved purchase page.  Now you have ability to add product thumbnail to the purchase page as well as product description. We see that many merchants decide to simply tweet the product or share it in Facebook. The problem was that buyers didn’t have the chance to learn more about product itself, it was confusing. With these improvements product page will serve much better and potential buyers will be able to learn more about the product that is being sold. You can add additional information to your existing products by going to product edit page.
  • More currencies.  We now support four currencies: US dollars, Euros, British pounds and Japanese yen. Merchants selling products mostly in these regions/countries will be able to choose one of these currencies for each product individually. We will continue to add more currencies depending on the demand from our merchants. Important: you need to have PayPal balance in chosen currency to accept payments (you can have multiple balances in your PayPal account).
  • Improved social network promo campaignsNow you can enable/disable social network discounts for Facebook/Twitter individually. We have also improved Facebook sharing message and it now goes with little thumbnail as well (if you have added it, of course). We have made discounts a bit easier for you to setup and for buyers to use. We think it will give positive impulse of people using it and promote your product among their friends.

There was number of other minor improvements and changes trough the system, feel free to send us your comments and suggestions if you think there is something important we still are missing. We will work forward to bring you more exciting features in the future – talk to you soon!

We are very proud to announce that we now have more than 1000 merchants registered on Sellfy! We are very excited about that and it motivates us to keep developing some awesome features that we will release pretty soon – stay tuned!
